Closed: except for Spam

Myspace has been quietly (or not so quietly) undergoing many changes since it first became the predominant social network site. First it closed its system to third party developers, which caused a huge backlash amongst its faithful. Social Media properties are built on their willingness to be open and learn from that openess but Myspace ignored this fact. This was a majoy blow to an already suffering online property.

One of the biggest crimes, I can see to Myspace is the hugely active network of marketers, model wanna-bes, and porn stars that run rampant on the site. The fester around every corner and send request out by the hundreds. A site that was once known to help local musicians in LA network has become a perverted pool of fake profiles. In contrast to Facebook which seems to be a more relevant Networking site with a completely open system. Its baffling to me that Myspace can be getting it wrong on various levels and continute to this policy of doomed strategy.

Myspace will you ever become relevant again?
