YouTube War.
YouTube has spurred many of cultural phenomenons. But none is more electrifying than the footage shot by soldiers in Iraq. Just like Vietnam brought the war home in a whole new way through the eyes of journalist, we now see it through the eyes of the boots on the ground. Never in the history of the world have we been so close to the battlefield, whilst sitting in the comfort of our homes.
One precipitator of this is video cameras for the masses. Once hard to afford, have been built into virtually every mobile phone and can be purchased at an affordable price in any Wal-Mart, Target or Best Buy. The "Video Camera's for the Masses Effect" has turned things that were once taboo into office emails (ie. soldiers being ambushed, and The Saddam hanging). In fact, the Saddam hanging, taped on a cell phone, was globally transmitted within hours to all corners of the earth for opinions to be formed whether good or bad.
The effect was negative for the Coalition but ultimately history will see the last breaths of a dying dictator like never before. The camera never lies and these raw videos give you the unfettered straight truth as you have never seen before in real-time.
